Central Park (Parque Central) in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico

Central Park (Parque Central) is Mazatlan's newest and largest urban park with walking and bicycle trails, pedal boats and kayak rides in a lagoon, a train ride, and cafes/restaurants.  It connects the new Cortez Sea(Mar de Cortés) Aquarium and the proposed Mazatlan Museum.

Central Park opened in 2021 and is still being completed as of April 2022.

Located just 2 blocks off of the Malecon near the Teodoro Mariscal Baseball Stadium, this park is intended to be Mazatlan's signature park.

It is hoped that locals and visitors will use this park to get outdoor exercise!  There are also lots of places to sit and relax.

Central Park is large rectangular park that has a large lagoon, winding trails, bicycle paths, and a few places to buy food.

You can rent pedal boats (approx US$7-10/hour) and single/double kayaks (approx US$5-7/hour) for use on the lagoon.

In May 2022, there was a kayak race in the lagoon.

There is a train ride (approx US$2) that are cars pulled by a tractor that goes around the park.  This is mainly for children.

It is intended that there will be restaurants, cafes, and food trucks that will eventually open in the park.

As of May 2022, there is currently a food truck area with a few food trucks.

December 2022 Update: You currently aren't allowed to bring in your own food, but the new mayor is planning to change this so that families can come in with their own food.

Innaugurated in September 2022, there are Dancing Fountains in the lagoon.

There are 7 dancing fountains that have computer-controlled multiple color lights.  The fountains shoot up to 10 metres in the air!

The best time to view these dancing fountains is in the evening when you can see the colors!

Innaugurated in September 2022, there is now an area that is called Animal Kingdom.

There are 27 habitats including shelters for reptiles (crocodiles, snakes, lizards, turtles, etc.) and birds (parrots, parakeets, peacocks, macaws, ets.  It is about 400 square meters large.

Animal Kingdom will be open from Mondays to Sundays from 7am to 10pm.

Since this is a very new park new things are being proposed regularly.

In May 2022, the mayor proposed putting a permanent giant ferris wheel in the park.

In April 2022, someone proposed putting in a 1km Zip Line that will go over the lagoon.

There is no admission fee to enter Mazatlan's Central Park, i.e. it is FREE!

However some activities such as the train ride, and boat/kayak rentals cost money.

Central Park in Mazatlan is open from 7am to 10pm.  Occasionally, on holidays such as Christmas, it will close earlier.

There is an armed security guard at the front gate.  The entire park will eventually be fenced in.  When we were there during the day it was completely safe.  As more people start using the park we anticipate that it will be even more safe!

As of December 2022, pets are not allowed into Mazatlan's Central Park.  However, the new mayor has signalled that he is going to change this rule.
